Jets at Chiefs - Modest Preview

Yes I'll likely put something of a post up Sunday after our game against the Jets, but I can't say everything that has gone down the past couple of weeks hasn't been extraordinarily discouraging. And I did promise at the beginning of this season that I wouldn't write anything about the NFLers' officiating-oriented antipathy towards our team and the gambling influences that throw into question anything we see on the football field.

But, well, I can't help it. I can't not post about those things because, well, again, therapy -- and also again, maybe my little blog effort here will mean something. Not holding my breath, but at least I can say it.

I happened to catch this Facebook post from a very observant gentleman, and I thought I'd share it with you because it is precisely what I've already been saying for a couple years now. Because most Chiefs blogs and more widely published media efforts are mostly NFLer toadies and will never say anything meaningful about the Scorecasting factor -- or even what I think is worse -- it is hard to find people who do know what is going on.

But there are, at least a little.

Bless this individual. He knows. And I do know that there are many others who don't get any respect or attention merely from things like what we all did hear in Dallas last Thanksgiving. Do you remember? After one particular egregiously bad penalty call against us helping the Cowboys win -- I believe it was a PI on Jaylen Watson that very much wasn't -- the boos came raining down from all the Chiefs fans in attendance after they saw the play on the big screen overhead.

They know too.

The discouragement can't be dismissed so readily when you're up against it like this, it just can't. Yes, I'll still work to enjoy my Chiefs who'll work hard to try to win -- a good reason to cheer them on when again, they are indeed up against it in ways they shouldn't be. The next three games are against weaker teams, and let's face it, we've played mostly weak teams so far this season. After that we run the gauntlet of five games against very solid winning teams this year.

Then what? We are good enough to make the playoffs, but what will happen when we face a Jaguars team or, back at it, a Bills team? If we even make it to the Super Bowl what will it be like when we face a Bears team or, back at it, a 49ers team? There are several exceptional NFL teams this year. We have the team to beat any of them, but not with what is against us otherwise.

Then there is this.

This was something quite sobering I caught on my social media, just that those most prominent online sports betting organizations send millions of dollars to candidates to win political elections. Notice they aren't sending money to any particular party, but to any candidate who will ensure their business is supported by powerful officeholders.

The officeholders not only get the money to win elections but are sold on it because of the tax revenue they are promised from all the gambling money these people take in, which in turn allows those officeholders to promise everyone voting for them all kinds of nice things from the government.

Politicians' virtue-signaling paid for by people losing their shirts through online betting activity.

Yeah, sorry, it makes me want to throw up, and it just keeps the discouragement raging much more because I do like our Chiefs and the pro football game. But yeah. It is sad, just more proof that they are all now just

Working for the bookies.

The bookies are the bosses, really, and how do things need to be to best make them happy?

Scorecasting review anyone?

Or worse?...
